The information that I learned about ARP from Week 2:

The one thing I really learned from both the videos and readings was that Action Research Plans are very data driven. We should take all the data that we currently have in order to form different plans on our campus to fix issues that night exist. This week also help me to form my own research plan in detail. Example plans in the book look like some of the things that I would like to do at my campus to work on some of the concerns that our staff have about certain issues. My uncle is a principal that I have always went if I ever had a education related question and know I see what he talks about when he says what there is more to his job than dealing with parents or discipline problems. After answering the questions over the nine areas I also realized that we have done research plans in some of these areas at all the campuses I have worked at. The advice the scholar from Beaumont ISD said about making sure that all research plans benefit the student performance and permission slips for any students that might be involved in the action plan. Another thing I learned this week is that sometimes you might do a research plan from a outside source or even at times a follow up to a previous action plan. We expect our students to be lifelong learners no matter what class it is so in return we as educators we should be the same. In the reading I noticed something that has bother me for the past 6 years. Our students seem to come into 6th grade from 5th grade behind on certain skills needed in 6th grade. So our staff has to spend time teaching some skills that if were taught prior to could advance to other skills. I believe throughout this course I will not just form one action research plan, but I feel like many will come up once school starts back after I have a chance to observe more. There are always areas that we as a campus and district can improve on to help all students increase their performance.

  1. Hey Jimmy, It is amazing the amount of data that students create in a day, week, month, and school year. It will be interesting to see each of our action research projects take shape and what the data will look like. I have already started thinking about questions like; Will my research help our school? Will it be relevant for the staff and students? How will I handle success or failure if things don't go according to plan? It is going to be an interesting year this year. I am excited, but also nervous. Have a good 3rd week.
